“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.

This quote can be implemented in every aspect of our life. How many times do we feel like life is 100% about what happens to us? Our attitude in dealing with life’s junk is not only a testament to our character, but it could be what defuses a confrontation.

We choose our attitude about safety as well. We can make a conscious choice to have a positive outlook on the safety efforts of Norwalk Ready Mix, and we can also choose to not even think about it. Take a moment to think of the impact you and your attitude have on your fellow workers and our customers. Is it a positive impact? Or would others describe you as a downer? We know that often times the attitudes of our customers determine how well that pour is going to go. The thing we may forget however is that it works both ways.

The fact of the matter is the attitude you have towards safety, towards customers, towards your job in general will show in the work you put out. Take the attitude that you can make a difference in the safety of yourself and of your coworkers. As always if you have a safety concern or if you see an issue that needs to be addressed, just let your dispatcher or any other member of management know and we will work it out.
